Dr. Gazeas Expert in the German Bundestag on matters related to criminal proceedings and the use of undercover police informants
Dr. Gazeas was heard as an expert in the Committee on Legal Affairs of the German Bundestag on the initiative to create a law for the use of undercover police informants in criminal proceedings and on legal questions regarding the provocation of crimes by such so-called police informants.
He has explained the constitutional necessity of creating a legal basis for the use of confidential informants in the Code of Criminal Procedure. Dr. Gazeas described the necessity of creating such a law and defining the legal framework as obvious. There would be no good reason not to create such a law.
Dr. Gazeas’ written expert opinion can be found here and more information on the public hearing, including a video of the hearing, on the German Bundestag website.
The leading German medium SPIEGEL online has reported on the hearing in detail.
