12th EU Criminal Law Day 2019 – Lecture on mutual legal assistance in criminal matters with third-partie states
At this year’s 12th EU Criminal Law Day 2019 in Bonn, Dr. Nikolaos Gazeas will speak on the 18th October 2019 on mutual legal assistance in criminal matters with third-party states outside the EU. He will speak about the implications and difficulties following the Petruhhin judgment of the European Court of Justice. The ruling concerns the extent to which extradition of an EU citizen to a third-party state outside the EU is admissable and can be prevented by the individual’s own state of nationality. Dr. Gazeas was the councel of an individual in one of the first cases in the Federal Republic of Germany in which this Petruhhin-judgement is applied in connection with an extradition request from the USA.
